This week we celebrate the Summer Solstice, and Chamomile has been associated with the Sun since the times of Ancient Egypt. Good for purification, enhancing luck, dream magic, and protecting against negative energy. Burn as incense or pack a sachet to provide additional warding.

Chamomile is fairly easy to grow in Florida if given the right spot. It will need a little shade from the hottest Sun, but not too much! Keep it well watered to ensure flush growth and generous blooming. Cutting the flowers not only gives you a harvest, but encourages more to sprout!

The gentle and attractive scent of Chamomile was a gift from the Gods to the people of Ancient Egypt. The Sun God Ra was fond of the plant and offerings made to him ensured protection. The oil was used to anoint bodies of dead pharaohs, and even the very sandals of King Tut!
